DIY Acne Sheer Cut Out Back Dress

I posted a few days ago about the amazingness that was the Acne AW11 show, and found this pic by Hanelli of the back of one of my favourite ensembles, what a DIYable back detail. Take a tee, cut out the back and replace with sheer fabric. Gorgeous.

DIY on the Runway - Acne AW11

The first of the LFW AW11 collections are coming through, and I can't help but feel that I am liking what I'm seeing more than I did at NYFW. Sorry NYers! The Acne show was gorgeous, such amazing colours and textures, leather and chiffon. I love the subtle layering of sheer fabric under leather and over skinny leg cut off pants. A bit of DIY inspiration there!

DIY Studded Pumps

I'm totally lusting over the beautiful studded pumps that Peony made recently. She admitted to getting a helping hand from her bf to do the more technical part of the studding, and I must say I am very prone to getting a hand from my bf when I need a bit of muscle. I hope Peony wears these at some stage during LFW! Am so happy to have inspired Peony to get crafty.

DIY at LFW - Bell Embellished Sleeves

Ahhhhh I love this sooo much. Take a white shirt and embellish the sleeves with crazy bells or buttons. So. Cool. I'm really enjoying all the LFW streetstyle that's filtering through, Londoners have such quirky style and I am sure that the next couple of days and weeks will see a heap of inspiration. I have to thank the lovely Shini of Park and Cube and Jen of the Style Crusader for the pics below, and for being my eyes on the street at Somerset House. I'm not even going to begin to describe how much I wish I was there again this season.

DIY with Vanessa Jackman

I have to apologise in advance for the narcissism. It feels like aggggges ago that I had the pleasure of running into the beautiful and talented photographer Vanessa Jackman at LFW last year. She needs no introduction, I'm sure you've all spent as much time as I have pouring over her amazing streetstyle shots. I was running up and down the stairs in Somerset House when she approached me and asked if she could take my picture, we ended up having a long laugh and chat out the back of the Topshop Newgen exhibition. Obviously we worked out pretty quickly that we were both from Brisbane in Australia, and really the rest was history. She even managed to make me look half normal so for that at least she deserves a medal! Looking forward to running into her some time soon. Check out the rest of the pics she took here.

DIY Shawl Skirt

Sandra of 5 inches and up shows us how to make a very cute skirt by belting a shawl over a shirt dress. Perfect!

In other news, met the absolutely GORGEOUS Michelle of Who is Bobb Parris at fashion week. She has uploaded a photo of me as part of her 100 Strangers series of photos. Her photography is fantastic, and she is as suited to being in front of the camera as she is to being behind it! (are you sick of seeing me in those red trousers yet?)

So I was lucky to meet the lovely Jill (Polka Dot) of the amazing streetstyle blog Street Style London almost as soon as I arrived at LFW day 1, and her youthful energy and smiling face was the perfect beginning to a fantastic day. It was lovely having a chat and a laugh so early on. I had imagined the LFW would be pretty clique-y and exclusive, but everyone I met, especially Jill, was lovely and completely down to earth. Anyhoo, Jill has uploaded some pics of me from that chance meeting here. DIY Coat Cape

This could possibly be the easiest DIY around. Spotted by Jen of The Style Crusader at LFW, get cape-like without going the whole hog by wearing your jacket without your arms in the arm holes. Perfect done with any type of jacket - blazer being a favourite.

Ps. I know I have gone on and on about capes on this blog - but tried one on at Zara a few days ago (camel one with slits in the front for arms) and it was ridiculously impractical, I couldnt get my bag on my shoulder and my arms stuck out in front of me awkwardly.... maybe the jacketcape is really the way of the future?

DIY Jasper Garvida SS11 Fairyfloss Hair Buns

The only thing I miss about having long hair is rocking a sexy massive bun. These are amazing and could be, should be, DIYed!

DIY Paint Splattered Clutch

Adore this clutch - and it looks scarily like a neon blue pencil case I had in grade 3. Kind of makes me want to go out and buy a bright coloured pencil case, splatter it with paint, and fold the bottom corners over like below and secure with studs.

DIY Runway - Topshop Unique Destroyed Shorts

Shini took this pic from the Topshop Unique show - and I am in love with the destroyed pattern on these pink cut off shorts. I didn't notice them in the Style.com image as I couldn't see the back of the outfit. Very cool. I love how they have left the pockets on as they are. To create this effect, cut a grid of squares out of the denim, and then wash repeadedly so that the edges of all the squares fray.

Ps. Found this coverage of LFW Day1 on the Next blog (guest blogger Shini and Jill from Street Style London) and stumbled upon a pic of me. Day 1 was such a blur!

DIY Runway - House of Holland Fringed Belt

Head down to your local craft store, or if you live in London - the craft stall at your local street markets (Chapel Street / Walthamstow High Street / Ridley Road etc etc) and buy some fringing - the longest you can find. Attach to a skinny belt like this. Wear with a mini dress or skirt. Try to make sure the fringing reaches past the hem of the skirt - although don't sacrifice skirt length to achieve this. Knickers are not a good look.

  I'll probably do mine in black - particularly given that unlike the catwalks we are about to go into winter... (grr fashion is so annoying sometimes).

Really like this body necklace on the girls at Topshop Unique SS11. Kind of reminds me of the necklace I blogged about here by Brook + Lyn. The Unique ones are made our of plaited leather - and look like an easy, but time consuming,  DIY.

DIY Charles Anastase Sheer Flower Dress

Ok so I don't suggest going out in JUST a sheer dress like this - particualrly not wearing massive granny pants underneath - but I adore the sheer dress with flowers peppered all over it. A sweet top/light jacket made like this would be a winner (cue mosquito netting and flowers from the pound store).
