Blogger DIYs

So I've been so busy making dresses and earrings and working on a few other little projects that I haven't had the time to post some of my favourite DIYs from other creative bloggers. Shame on me! I'm drawn to DIYs like a moth to a flame, so here are some of my favourites.
This gorgeous T strap bra by Ivania of Love Aesthetics is amazing and soo simple! Ivania also made a great wrap skirt using a grey marl long sleeved sweatshirt.

DIYs jewellery using fluro/nautical rope are very popular at the moment - with good reason! This one by Andy of Style Scrapbook is amazing. Being a rock climbing enthusiast it the clasp particularly appeals to me. Check it out here.

Another perfectly executed DIY by A Matter of Style - why buy (from Zara) when you can DIY should be my new motto.

Another great DIY clutch from the adorable MJ of Dreaming Spires and Old Car Tyres - made using a thrifted leather skirt. Perfect!

Saw this gorgeous gold necklace in this editorial and was reminded of a gold coin belt I bought in a market near my work last week, for an absolute steal. Wore it as a necklace over a white silk business shirt, its so beautiful.

DIY On the Streets of NYFW

I have to say that style on the streets of the fashion weeks always inspires me to DIY soooo much, its always so much more quirky, real and do-able than what you see in magazine spreads and on the runway. Don't let the relaxed nonchalance of the subjects fool you though, these outfits didn't happen over night. What you are seeing is the culmination of hours of outfit planning. I've trawled the net for some up to the minute streetstyle DIY inspiration. Enjoy!

Wrap a very long length of black chain around your neck like this, amazing update to any outfit.

 Ok so this Celine clutch is beyond amazing, head to your local stationary store and find an oversized neon pencil case. In fact oversized pencil case style clutches have been all over the street in NY in a whole range of colours. Go for it.

 This has just got to the the most perfect jeans length. I Die! Or something like that... Anyway, this DIY is pretty straightforward, scissors, opposable thumbs, jeans, done.

Love these snuggly mittens, take a regular pair of wool mittens and sew/glue some faux fur fabric onto the front. Perfect for keeping the winter chills out.

Another oversized pencilcase you say? Why yes! This one has a black tassel attached, thats not too difficult is it.

DIY Blogger Discovery - Rar Traum Store

Have discovered another amazing DIY blog - Rar Traum Store. The lovely Gabriela contacted me and mentioned that she did a few DIYs... I checked out her blog and Phoahhhh! I think you would probably call her work designing rather than DIY - its a hell of a lot more than a slapdash craft project. What I particularly like about her work is her ability to take a piece of junk - even things she finds in the trash or in scrap bins - and turn them into something utterly amazing. She has made some amazing jewellery using stones, crushed glass, scrap metal and just about everything else, and I adore her crazy denim jacket - very Balmain. My favorite piece of hers is an amazing deconstructed clock. Head over to her blog and check it out yo.

Ha! Whats not to love? To make your own, attach some tassel earrings or any dangly earrings to the ends of the arms of your sunglasses.

DIY Crystal Stone Necklace

I am extremely excited about all the upcoming runway shows throughout fashion month, particularly due to the DIY inspiration that always results. I took one look at these beautiful pics on Anywho from the recent Veronica B. Vallenes show and knew the stone necklace being sported by the models was a definitely DIY. As if by fate I went over to Lamma Island today for a hike, and came across this market stall selling the most amazing stones for next to nothing. Bought a few bits and pieces so look forward to some serious massive-rock-on-neck jewellery in future. Will pick up some delicate chains and maybe some coil to bind it all together.

Can't wait to get crafty!

DIY Tribal Necklaces

These tribal necklaces completely inspire me to make my own - there are sooo many junky bits and bob shops in HK, I'm sure I can find some crazy bits and pieces to spray gold and then attach to some leather. Watch this space.

DIY Christopher Kane Inspired Tassel Earrings

Continuing the theme on from my recent Jil Sander inspired DIY maxi, I have been feeling very bright and neon recently. It probably helps that Hong Kong winter is pretty damn pleasant compared to London. I absolutely loved the Christopher Kane Spring Summer 11 collection and wanted to make something inspired by the brights. Neon accessories are particularly good if you want to get amongst the brights trend but dont want to go large on a dress or trousers. Found these tassels in a market and was instantly inspired. Bought some little earring studs and tied the tassels on. I can separate them in the future and just wear one colour, very versatile!
