DIY Galaxy Print Top

Ok so this one is more like Didnt DIY. You may remember that a while ago I was ooooing and ahhing over the Dion Lee/Josh Goot Galaxy Print, wondering if I could do it myself using a spray dye technique (check out my post here). Before I got a chance however, a couple of days ago I was perusing the tiny little stores in the Galle fort and came across this top.  The little old lady who was selling it told me that she had used a spray dye technique to do it - she was so sweet and talked me through the process so look forward to seeing more galaxy print in the future! She also happily took me through to her workshop that was packed to the ceilings with dyed and printed fabrics she had done herself, and took in the top for me on the spot. Talk about service. Oh, and did I mention it cost less than the price of a coffee? Result!
Spray dye galaxy print top, vintage pleated skirt (£2 from an op shop in north london), river island gladiator flats, zara satchel, antique necklace from Sri lanka, sunglasses £7 from ebay (search for cat eye sunglasses).

DIY Givenchy style shadow dye

Picked up this great idea from AfterDRK, love this dark ombre look. To DIY, dip dye any item of clothing into black rit dye. I think it could work really well on any sort of printed item of clothing. Choose something with some black in it like this leopard print below so the pattern kind of bleeds out of the dyed part. The image below is so cool - at first I kind of thought it was a dark shadow being thrown onto the jacket.

DIY Spray Dye

Saw this amazing top on Christeric's blog a while ago and fell in love with the colours. Then happened upon this dress on Nasty Gal and knew that it wasn't just me that thought it was cool. Has a certain Dion Lee galaxy feel to it no? Could you, and would you, take a few spray bottles with different coloured dyes in them and go to town on a sheer silk top or dress? Please let me know if you can think of a more effective technique!

DIY Scarf Skirt

So gorgeous - it does help if you have killer legs! Just a scarf wrapped around and secured with a rubber band at the back. See post here.

DIY Tie dye maxi dress

Am going to work out how to DIY this even if its kills me! I think I'll need: Lots of white fabric + assorted colours for tie dying + large silver or bronze ring + time.

DIY - Festival Kaftan

Another great piece from Evil Twin. Can definitely see myself making one of these out of a thrifted tasselled cotton throw, folded in half with a rounded neckline cut in, and then some sort of motif added to the front.
