Kate Moss for LV & other Fashion Spectacles

My favourite, Kate Moss caused a mini furor when she surprised guests at Marc Jacob's Louis Vuitton show in Paris this week, appearing on the catwalk in leather gloves and hot pants, smoking a cigarette. Kate rarely graces the catwalks these days so her appearance, strutting out in her custom LV outfit was a treat for the glitterati - just maybe not for those who adhere to the French law of no smoking inside public buildings.
This is why I love Marc Jacobs - he loves a stunt (Victoria Beckham in an over sized shopping bag, anyone?) With two of fashion's greatest showmen out of the picture (the late, great Alexander McQueen and John Galliano), we need all the surprises and stunts we can get! One of my favourite McQueen fashion show moments was his stunning Kate Moss hologram, screened at a show in 2006.

Alexander McQueen Fall 2006 Ready to Wear

Lady Gaga was Alexander's muse and it was fabulous to see her making her catwalk debut, growling and gurning (and also smoking!) for Thierry Mugler, also at Paris Fashion Week. The spectacle was a bit of a pick-me-up for the fashion crowd following the news of Galliano-gate. (NEWSFLASH - Ricardo Tisci from Givenchy is being touted on the social media circuit as the replacement for John Galliano as Head Designer at Dior! Official confirmation pending...)

Although, we also still have the wonderfully irreverent Jean Paul Gaultier, who used to be dubbed the Enfant Terrible of fashion. He was the one who had Madonna walk his catwalk topless and invented her conical bras.

JPG was also in the media recently for his inspired move of having beautiful Aussie/Croatian model Andrej Pejic walk in both his Men's and Women's Spring 2011 collections. Andrej is also flaunting a cigarette! Must've been the big trend in Paris this Fashion week!

And last but not least, we can't forget another Enfant Terrible of fashion, the British designer Vivienne Westwoood - Queen Viv. Having Pamela Anderson strut her runway at Paris Fashion Week in 2009 was inspired! In a way, you can see how the two have struck up a friendship - strong, kooky, crazy chicks!

Victoria Beckham & Ellen Von Unwerth

As with most editorials and shots by my favourite photographers, as soon as I glimpsed this shot I was drawn like a moth to the flame... I discovered the shot was by the incomparable Ellen Von Unwerth, one of my long term FAVOURITE fashion photographer and who I think takes the sexy shots of women since Helmut Newton. Victoria Beckham seems to have an innate knowledge of who's hot, the coolest, the best - always the best designers, stylists and photographers. I love that pose in the back of the limo, leg flung skyward in typical Von Unwerth abandon - and those amazing Bridget Back Silver Louboutins! Love. (Am obsessed with studded shoes ever since clocked Louboutins studded Ariellas 2 years ago - am currently in love with dsquared2's spiked, studded babies.) Fabulous. Here are my faves from 'Turk Modasi Serfine' for Vogue Turkey, August 2010 by Ellen Von Unwerth.
Von Unwerth's women are un-apologetically strong, sexy and not afraid to flaunt it. They're rock-chicks, sirens, glamazons & amazons. They are quite often drinking, eating, winking, smoking or draped louchely across a car/couch/man. I love the poses, the makeup, the fashions. Von Unwerth's women are typically long locked vixens with smoky eyes, 6 inch heels, a red lip and disheveled hair. And so it should be. Look how she has transferred the one & only VB into a curvy siren! Here are a few of my fave classic Von Unwerth shots, beginning with one of my favourite shots of all time which used to be on my bedroom wall in 1991 - Nadja Auermann's seminal shoot for Vogue UK - She is an Enigma (followed by other faves Salma Hayek, Gaga, Vanessa Paradis, Rosario Dawson, Liz Hurley, Drew Barrymore, Juliette Lewis & Alessandra Ambrosio who is currently on the cover of LOVE magazine - any amazing shot by Mert & Marcus)

Eric Daman rocking Gossip Girl Season 4

Gossip Girl Season Four, my guilty pleasure has been absolutely fantastic in terms of fashion eye-candy! Eric Daman has got his mojo back. Episode 3 ('The Undergraduates') was particularly spectacular with one utterly fabulous outfit after another. Here are some of my faves...

New character Juliet is rocking an exquisite tight & tailored wardrobe. This grey wool zippered McQueen is to die for. Adore that cut - I love a shift dress. Victoria Beckham, Roland Mouret, Marc Jacobs and McQueen cut them so well. VB should be proud to be in that category!

Am in love with this Yigal Azrouel dress with it’s immaculate contours and sexy cut out back, very Victoria Beckham-esque. And with denim Dolce & Gabbana pumps – amazing!

Speaking of VB, Gossip Girl use her designs a lot and this creamy camel drapey dress from Fall 2010 is stunning.

Serena in a billowing Jenny Packham dress strides into the DVF Fashion's night Out event echoing Christy, Cindy, Noami and Linda at the height of the 90's, storming Versace's runway to 'Freedom' in 1991 in full Amazon glory. This scene is shot at DVF's store in the Meatpacking District, an amazing space. The bold print dress, which almost looks like zebra, with a slash of sequined blue belt & neckline looks amazing on Blake Lively's killer curves.

Blair at the same event in iridescent pewter Valentino dress.

I love leopard. I love colour. I love sequins. So how cute are these Betsey Johnson dresses on Blair's minions?!

So pretty, fashion confection. I'm looking forward to what ewhat Eric has in store for the rest of the season! XOXO

Shades of Grey for Iron Man 2

Grey is HOT for Winter, and thank God. It's is one of my wardrobe basics & faves! I just saw the pics of Iron Man 2 premiere under a headline pointing out that the two female stars Gwynnie and ScarJo both wore grey - & they both look FANTASTIC! Funnily enough, on inspection, both are wearing two of my fave designers.

Gwyneth is in Victoria Beckham's zip back dress in a beautiful deep smoke-grey. I LOVE the colour, but do prefer it on J.Lo though, you def. need a more back (ie. a bum) to carry off this dress!

Scarlett is in dove grey, wearing one of VB's inspirations, Roland Mouret.

Loving Rouland Mouret's Pigalle Wool dress. Look at all my faves wearing it - J.Lo, Dita, Beyonce...grey rocks.

Very excited about Iron Man 2. I love Downey.
