Easter Rooftop Shenanigans

A few belated pics from Easter Friday Lunch last week on one of our friends amazing rooftop. We ate BBQ four cheese pizzas, mexican gazpacho, seared tuna tacos with orange habanero dressing, salmon burgers and coconut cupcakes with white chocolate icing (via the hummingbird bakery cookbook). Yumbo. Was a very (very) long night in the end - with a midnight stop at the central flower market stalls, just cos.

DIY Inspiration - Dion Lee

Every so often a designer comes out of the woodwork and delivers a collection so full of DIY that I need to take a moment to collect myself. Dion Lee's AW11 collection has my mind swirling with DIY ideas - mens shirts, cut outs, sheerness and more. Oh no you dint! Although I must say Dion has been producing collections with covetable DIYable details for a while now (remember the blazer with cut out sleeves?).

DIY Neon No-time Watches

Found this super cute DIY recently when trawling the internet - thought it would be recent but turned out these neon no-time watches were whipped up in 2008 using thrifted mens watches... Trends being cyclical yadda yadda. Check out the DIY here. I think these would look amazing amongst a stacked arm of bracelets.

NIVEA Turns 100 With New Global Ambassador

2011 is certainly shaping up to be the year where celebrities are chosen to represent famous beauty brands, but NIVEA did not want just any old celebrity for their 2011 campaign because they are turning 100!!! For millions around the world NIVEA has been a staple in their home for decades and as the brand enters its centennial, they look to the next generation of fans.

In order to prove that

Lover One Piece

Sooo much beach time this long weekend gone. This was day uno - paisley lover backless one piece with other bits and bobs. Love to throw some mini shorts over a one piece.
wearing: lover backless one piece  (given to me by my cousin - ta!), vintage christian dior mens sheer silk shirt, whistles denim shorts, ebay cat eye sunglasses,  river island gladiators, navy blue leather notebook for listmaking - looks rather like a passport doesn't it? But no, I didn't go anywhere.

Wedding Fever

Paula Yates marries Bob Geldof in 1986. Spot the rockers in the wedding party!

My sister, Banana meet-Cute is staying with me from Melbourne and is quite the royalist, so we are preparing for the royal wedding on Friday night. When I say prepare, I mean fully stocked with bubbly (I'm thinking Prosecco) and have requested wedding themed cup-cakes, as she is quite the baker. I'm not really into the royal family, was never interested in Diana (although did watch her wedding in 1982 - only because I was promised Charles & Di chocolates) - but lately I've been caught up in the "Who will Kate wear?" hoopla. My personal fave would be Alexander McQueen, but I'm thinking McQueen may be too edgy. Stella? I have a feeling Kate will accentuate those shoulders and go strapless, bias cut or drop waist in a fairly tailored design - mind you Bruce Oldfield has said that you can't go sleeveless in Westminster Abbey? "'It will have sleeves, it has to have sleeves. You can't walk down Westminster Abbey in a strapless dress. It just wouldn't happen. It has to suit the grandeur of that aisle, it's enormous." Oh well - time will tell! More importantly - who will KATE MOSS be wearing next month? Now that Galliano is vetoed....In the meantime, here are a few of my favourite wedding dresses of all time.

Unmarried Helena Bonham Carter & Tim Burton in a fantasy wedding shot,

from Vivienne Westwood's book 'Vivienne Westwood Opus'

Dita Von Teese marries Marilyn Manson Goth-style in electric violet Vivienne Westwood, 2005 (Milliner Stephen Jones is holding her train).

A classic. Bianca Jagger marries Mick Jagger in a YSL suit. The jacket (and lack of a shirt caused quite the stir back in 1971

Gwen Stefani in Avant Garde, pink dip-dyed Galliano. This dress blew me away, it is so Gwen, and I love the structure and the colour.

Rock star wedding! The inimitable Paula Yates marries Bob Geldof at 26 in a blo0d-red satin dress, a gift from Jasper Conran. I met her when I was working at Harrods - she seemed very shy, very sweet.

Carolyn Besette Kennedy marries JFK Jnr in Narcisco Rodriguez in 1996- a classic in bias cut cool. This was one of my favourites and captured the zeitgeist of 90's minimalism and fitted tailoring.

Carrie Bradshaw in Westwood for the long awaited wedding to Big. If only the makeup and hair was softer though. the red lips & scraped back hair look too harsh.

Another rock star wedding. I love Pearl Lowe. Here she is marrying Danny Goffey with gorgeous Daisy Lowe. look at that cake! Dark chocolate strewn with rose petals, mmm.

Pammy and Tommy get hitched in Cancun in 1995 within days of meeting, after Tommy stalked Pam and followed her to Cancun where she was working on a shoot. I'm sorry but I love that she got hitched in a white bikini - Rock & roll!

Easter in the garden

Not being overly into chocolate (although very partial to a cold cherry ripe), the easter bunny brought these additions to my bedside cactus garden this weekend instead of lindt. Hope you all had a gorgeous easter weekend! Also, the lovely Carly of Chic Steals recently posted a little interview she did with me here. Head over and check it out.

GHD's Iconic Era of Style Campaign

Iconic Era of Style 80 New Wave
Who loves a good celebrity endorsement? I do, I do! Not just any celebrity endorsement though... I mean almost every celebrity wants to become a fame whore with their own designer fashion label, a house of fragrances and their own private nite club and it is just ridiculous.
And then there is Katy Perry. She has spent years working hard to put her name on the map

DIY Sideboob Tank with Metal Detail

i.love.sideboob. Seriously, who doesn't? And tops with low arm holes are friggin easy to make - take an oversized tank/tee and some scissors and away you go. I love the addition of a metal style strap like this picture - its a really cool detail. You could use chain or a piece of metal from a hardware store to recreate this look. Doooo it. (psst, have you shopped my closet recently? do that here.)

I love the Book Depository! Cannot wait to get my claws into this beautiful tome which arrived bound in thick vinyl-red plastic. Fabulous! See more here.

Kate Moss goes Flouro in French Vogue

These shots by maestros Mert and Marcus are amazing. I love the juxtaposition between the elegantly beautiful b&W shots and the super flouro ones. New Editor Emmanuelle All styled this editorial - very impressive, but I guess she is under the pump coming hot on the heels of exiting Editor and icon, Carine Roitfeld.
Also good to see models and not celebs gracing Emmanuelle's first two covers. (Giselle graced her inaugural issue). Although I wish they had used a flouro shot for the cover!
